Info about sore breasts

My son is 10 days old and I was breastfeeding him until about 2 days ago because I had to go on meds for my thyroid and my doc said that I have to stop breastfeeding. My breasts are ver painful and they have some hard spots on them. What could this be?

could be a clogged milk duct; go see your doctor and they can prescribe some antibiotics.

Question by Arabella: Can you help with a painful breastfeeding problem?
One ofmy nipples has cracked open and there is a very painful sore that my 2-week old son opens back up every time he nurses. It’s excruciating! I expose the nipple to air and apply Lansinoh after the feedings but it will NOT heal.
This is the breast my son prefers so pumping is not an option because he does not nurse the other side well and I don’t want to give him pumped milk in a bottle until nursing is well established.
Any tips or remedies that I haven’t tried for healing this sore?

Is he latching on correctly? I know it was excruiating with my second son because he did not latch correctly. But also with my daughter I went through a few weeks where my nipples were cracked and painful until they toughened up. Keep up with the Lansinoh, you will get there!

Lansolin Oil you can get a tube of it from walmart in the baby section its safe to use during breastfeeding. It helps so much it in a purple tube and box if i’m not mistaken

I have always enjoyed the experience since she was born with no latching problems, but for the past week or so my breasts are so painful during the sucking that it is causing me to want to wean her. Does anyone know what could be causing this awful pain during her sucking? I want to try to enjoy it, but its getting to be pretty difficult. My nipples are not cracked so I don’t understand the pain.

you might be starting to dry up and she might not be getting much, you can start weaning her anytime now.some people say it’s easier to do bnefore they’re a year old

Ive been feeding my baby for 3 months and never a problem, untill yesterday when my breast started to ache whilst feeding, today still the same but alot more painful, its like a shooting pain through it, and throbs even after feeding…
It feels hard like i still have lots of milk, but shouldnt have because have fed from it lots. Please help…

You can get an infection in your breast while feeding. See your doctor.

My daughter self weaned and the last time she nursed was a little over a week ago. I was able to slowly wean her onto the bottle so that my pain and engorgement was minimal. I am not engorged the least bit but my breasts are very tender. Is this normal? If it is how long did it last for you?
There is no way I am pregnant you have to have sex to get pregnant lol
It is just plain old tender no sharp pains, it hurts to hold my daughter. I was told that sudafed would dry up my supply so even though I am not engorged I took one dose and maybe that will help with the tenderness, if it doesnt help over the weekend I will call the doctor

LOL, maybe thrush/yeast? Do you have nipple pain and/or shooting pains or is it just plain old tender?

Nope. Usually women with breast implants have no issues.
