Question by concerned: How to deal with fibrocystic breast changes?
I just found out a couple months ago that I had fibrocystic breast changes and I am only 24 years old. I was so scared at first I had even kept going to the doctor like 3-4 times a month till I finally went in for a second opinion last month; which he told me that same thing. But its like an addiction and I keep giving myself breast exams every single day and I do it so much and press so hard that I am sore and the only reason is because I am always thinking I find something new when really its bone. I just need someone to tell me thats this whole thing is normal and that the doctors are right and it is very common. I have so many family members that have this and no breast cancer in the family. I dont know what my deal is. I just need someone to give me good advice and nothing that is going to freak me out. Anything to get me to quit examining myself every SINGLE day. I am driving myself crazy, the doctors crazy, and my family; especially my husband.

i don’t know if this will help or not. i have it too, and my doc said it’s because i’m skinny, and have no fat in my boobs. gaining weight would help a little. cut down on caffeine and take 400 mg of vitamin E a day. just by taking the vit e has helped me a LOT because i can’t cut down on my caffeine!

Question about fibrocystic breast changes?

Question by : Question about fibrocystic breast changes?
I experience fibrocystic breast changes. Basically, a week before I start menstruating my breast tissue feels dense. They feel like almost rock hard masses with a lumpy or ridge-like surface. There is also tiny bead-like things scattered throughout my breasts. There is also a tender, swollen, full with a dull pain and itchy sensation. I’ve had this since I was fourteen. After I am done menstruating it usually subsides quite a bit but after my last period (three weeks ago) it hardly did at all. I have this feeling in my breast all the time. They did not go back to their soft state. I tried not wearing a bra and it helped a bit but not very much. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lessen fibrocystic breast changes?

This is completely normal and very common. Barring hormone contraception, which *may* help or make it worse, there isn’t much you can do. It’s due to cyclical hormonal changes. You’ll find it will come and go. I notice it more some months than others.

If you’re concerned, see your GP and hopefully he will be able to offer you some reassurance, but based on what you’ve said, nothing really sounds abnormal. It may last for longer periods of time occasionally.

The doctor said I had fibrocystic breasts?

Question by Riss: The doctor said I had fibrocystic breasts?
Has any woman had this? I read that it’s usually around your monthly cycle but I’ve had a constant massive lump for over a month. I’ve also had shooting pains in my breast like someone was stabbing me and the area around the lump is very red. Also, my nipple seems to have flattened out and dimpled a little bit… like, it’s starting to invert, but only in my left breast.

Should I be concerned or is this all part of the fibrocystic breast thing?

Any instant relief for pain from fibrocystic breasts?

Question by Liz N: Any instant relief for pain from fibrocystic breasts?
I know I should avoid caffiene but i’m wondering, now that its hurting, is there anything I can do to relieve the pain for a little while? I thought maybe a heating pad?

if the pain is severe, you may take this medicines, medicinesbromocriptine (brand name, Parlodel)
danazol (brand name, Danocrine). But ask your doctor’s advice first before taking any of this drug treatment because some women experience serious side effects. For now, you can help relieve the pain with self- care, like, wearing a extra support bras. Sports bras are ideal and should be worn day and night especially during monthly periods wherein the breasts are more tender and swollen.

Drink vitamins E, niacin and herbal supplements like primrose oil they may help alleviate the symptoms of fibrocystic breasts by reducing inflammation and fluid retention. Be sure sure to drink according to its proper dose.

Some women also find that reducing their caffeine intake by avoiding coffee, tea, chocolate, and soft drinks decreases water retention and breast discomfort. However, this is a controversial topic among healthcare professionals because studies linking breast pain and caffeine have been inconsistent.
